Candidate Filing Begins and Board of Elections Releases 2026 Election Schedule
Durham, NC – Durham County will conduct the 2026 Statewide Primary and Election on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, and the Statewide General Election on Tuesday, November 3, 2026. Registered voters will be permitted to vote either by mail, in-person at an early voting site, or in-person at their assigned Election Day polling place.
In addition to various statewide offices, the following Durham County specific contests will be on the ballot in 2026:

U.S. House (District 4)

N.C. Senate (Districts 20 and 22)

N.C. House (Districts 2, 29, 30, and 31)

Durham County (Sheriff, District Attorney, District Court, Clerk of Superior Court, and Soil and Water Conservation District)

Durham County Board of Education (Districts 1, 2, 3, and 4)

City of Raleigh (Mayor, City Council At-Large, City Council District E) – for Durham County voters who are City of Raleigh residents.

The candidate filing period for the 2026 Statewide Primary and Election will begin on December 1, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. Filing will take place at the Durham County Board of Elections office located at 3825 S.
