Early voting is a popular voting method among Durham County voters. The Board of Elections provides tools such as the early voting site locator and a wait-time application to help voters find the most convenient location to go to based on their desired preference.

Things to know before you go:

  • Same-Day Registration & Updates: Residents who are not registered voters can complete Same-Day Registration at any early voting site with proof of residence. Voters may also update their name and/or address during the early voting period.

  • Party Affiliation & Ballot Selection: Voters must vote in the party primary of their registration unless they are registered as Unaffiliated. Unaffiliated voters may choose which party primary they desire to participate in. Non-partisan ballots will only have School Board and City of Raleigh races, if eligible. Green and Libertarian Party Registrants will receive a non-partisan ballot.

  • 17-Year-Old Voter Eligibility: Voters who are 17 years of age and will be 18 by the date of the November 3rd General Election are eligible to vote in the primary.

  • Photo ID Requirement: Remember to bring an acceptable form of photo identification. If you do not have acceptable ID for voting, alternative voting options will be offered by site officials. For information on Voter ID in NC, visit the Voter ID page of our website here
